When I came across this emerging dahlia while visiting a flower farm in Virginia, I knew I had found something unique and special to photograph. I had never come across a dahlia with such interesting details and such a beautiful blend of colors. I especially loved the varying shades of pinks and blush colors interspersed with soft yellow on the petals which inspired me to create an artistic background to highlight and complement this flower. This image received the Category Award for Flora and Fauna in the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council’s Expose Juried Photography Exhibit.
