I came across this sweet pair of Creme De Cassis dahlias while visiting Chanticleer Gardens in Wayne, Pennsylvania. Their two toned petals of soft pinks and deep magenta really captured my attention. Seeing the dahlia bud emerging leaning against the larger bloomed dahlia touched my heart and a feeling of maternal love washed over me. As I spent time observing and photographing this pair, they reminded me of the love and bond between a parent and child and brought back memories of time spent with my own children when they were young. I love coming across flowers like this that I can photograph to create images that can trigger memories and evoke emotion for myself and others.
