When I discovered this sunflower at a 300-acre sunflower farm in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, I was immediately captivated by its center petals folded down over its face. It seemed to reveal a playful personality as if playing a game of peekaboo as well as a bit of shyness. With its outer open petals backlit by the bright sun and its folded over petals the perfect title, Radiantly Bashful came to mind. This image was awarded Best in Show at the 2023 Expose Juried Photography Competition in New Jersey.
